Job Title: Project Management Consultant

Location: Virginia Beach, VA (Hybrid)
Duration: 10 Months


Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Management Consultant to manage a portfolio of medium to large-scale projects. This role requires close collaboration with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, and vendors to deliver projects using established project management methodologies. The position follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular onsite presence to meet with customers and stakeholders and facilitate in-person meetings as needed. Local candidates are required.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of medium to large projects, partnering with business areas to prioritize work requests using standard project management methodologies

  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to document current-state processes, research best practices, and propose future-state improvements aligned with continuous improvement initiatives

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with technical stakeholders, business partners, and vendors

  • Define and document business requirements based on identified needs and gaps in collaboration with SMEs

  • Apply project management best practices including planning, scheduling, budgeting, monitoring, risk management, and project closure

  • Develop and manage project deliverables such as business process flows, business requirements documents, project plans, test plans, and test scripts

  • Track project timelines and deliverables, providing regular status updates to internal and external stakeholders

  • Assist in defining business metrics to measure and improve process performance

  • Facilitate weekly and bi-weekly project meetings; document and distribute meeting notes and action items

  • Identify, manage, and resolve project issues and conflicts; track resolutions through completion

  • Analyze and prioritize project risks, assess potential impacts, and develop mitigation strategies

  • Manage project communications to leadership, stakeholders, and project teams

  • Provide direction to project teams, including work assignment, scheduling, and review of deliverables

  • Identify and resolve scope, schedule, budget, and quality issues; conduct root cause analysis and support change management activities

  • Lead lessons-learned sessions to identify opportunities for improvement and reuse of best practices

  • Support and enforce standards and methodologies related to project management, business process development, and change management

  • Perform additional duties as assigned based on project and departmental needs


Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP certification or equivalent IT Project Management experience

  • Experience with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies

  • Hands-on experience using ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM)

  • Strong leadership, communication, influence, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including MS Project, Visio, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook

  • Strong customer service mindset
