Position Overview

A hospital is seeking a Medical Technician to perform both stat and routine laboratory testing across multiple technical disciplines. This role requires a high level of independence, strong clinical judgment, and the ability to cover all laboratory areas as needed while ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant results.

Responsibilities

  • Perform stat and routine clinical laboratory testing in licensed technical areas

  • Follow established laboratory procedures and regulatory requirements

  • Apply principles of laboratory medicine and independent judgment to ensure accuracy and timeliness

  • Maintain competency and provide coverage in key laboratory sections, including:

    • Blood Bank

    • Chemistry

    • Hematology

  • Assist with specimen collection, processing, and referral testing

  • Support departmental goals related to quality, service, compliance, and patient satisfaction

  • Collaborate with laboratory and hospital teams to promote a positive and professional work environment

  • Work independently and provide coverage across all lab areas when required

Qualifications

  • National certification as a Medical Technologist (ASCP preferred)

  • Active Florida State Medical Technologist license required

    • Must be licensed in at least three (3) laboratory areas

  • Associate’s Degree in Medical Technology with formal training required

    • Bachelor’s Degree preferred

  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced hospital laboratory

Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years of hospital laboratory experience preferred

  • Blood Bank experience strongly preferred

  • Must be comfortable working independently and covering all laboratory sections
