Schedule Notes: Evenings, 3x12s preferred (4x10s may be considered)
On-Call Requirement:
Includes 1 weekend day (24-hour call) in a 6-week rotation

The PACU Registered Nurse provides Phase I and Phase II post-anesthesia recovery care for adult and pediatric patients following surgical and procedural interventions. This role requires strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and the ability to manage multiple patients concurrently while adhering to ASPAN standards and best practices.
Provide Phase I and Phase II recovery care, often within the same PACU setting
Maintain a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio, with potential to care for two Phase I patients simultaneously
Monitor airway, hemodynamics, pain control, and post-anesthesia recovery
Recover patients from inpatient and outpatient procedures
Care for patients following elective, urgent, add-on, and emergent cases
Recover patients following endoscopy procedures under anesthesia (MAC cases)
Recover select ICU-level patients as needed
Administer medications and treatments per protocol
Document care accurately and timely
Collaborate with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and interdisciplinary teams
Adult and Pediatric Patients (6 months and older)
Pediatric ENT cases including tonsillectomy, ear tubes, and adenoidectomy
Orthopedic, General Surgery, ENT, Neuro, Plastics, Urology, and GYN procedures
Local procedures such as thoracentesis and paracentesis
Daily recovery volume ranges from 11 to 35 patients, depending on census
PACU experience required
Pediatric PACU experience (6 months and older) preferred
Peripheral nerve block experience preferred
Ability to manage varying acuity levels and fluctuating patient volumes
