The RN Quality Management, Accreditation & Risk Manager is responsible for leading and supporting the organization’s internal risk management and patient safety programs. This role serves as both Risk Manager (RM) and Patient Safety Officer (PSO), providing organization-wide oversight of patient safety initiatives, risk mitigation strategies, and regulatory compliance. The position focuses on reducing medical and healthcare-related errors, improving systems and processes, and supporting a culture of safety and accountability.
Develop, implement, maintain, and evaluate a comprehensive internal risk management program in compliance with applicable state and federal regulations
Collaborate with organizational leadership on patient safety and risk management decision-making
Investigate, evaluate, and submit adverse events and incidents in accordance with regulatory and statutory reporting requirements
Coordinate and facilitate disclosure of adverse events, ensuring appropriate follow-up with patients, families, and care teams
Analyze patient grievances related to risk management in compliance with regulatory standards
Facilitate and lead Patient Safety Rounds
Provide education and training on risk management and patient safety to departments and staff
Lead and support Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEA)
Stay current on industry trends, clinical risk issues, and best practices
Maintain working knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., CMS, Joint Commission, DNV, CARF, and similar bodies)
Monitor compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulatory requirements
Assist with accreditation readiness and quality initiatives, including chart audits, clinical reviews, and data support
Support peer review activities in collaboration with medical leadership and legal counsel, as appropriate
Work closely with medical leadership and quality teams on quality of care, patient safety, and risk-related concerns
Communicate effectively and professionally with staff at all levels of the organization
Serve as a resource, mentor, and role model for quality, safety, and risk management practices
Provide cross-coverage for other Quality Management team roles as needed
Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license (state-specific, in good standing)
Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) required within two (2) years of hire
Clinical Competency Assessment required within 3 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter
Minimum 3 years of experience in risk management, patient safety, quality management, and/or regulatory compliance
Demonstrated leadership experience facilitating cross-functional teams
Proven ability to collaborate effectively across departments and organizational levels
