Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Clinical Educator to support Long-Term Care (LTC) facilities through staff education, competency development, and clinical training standardization. This is a newly created role designed to enhance clinical skills, onboarding effectiveness, and professional development for nursing and CNA staff.

The position will focus approximately 75% on LTC clinical education, with additional responsibilities supporting broader clinical education initiatives and team-based projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical education and skills training for LTC nursing and CNA staff

  • Partner with CNA clinical educators to support onboarding, entry-level training, and effective preceptorships

  • Coordinate student clinical experiences with academic partners as applicable

  • Select, implement, and evaluate curricula for clinical training programs

  • Standardize and streamline clinical competency programs in alignment with policy and accreditation standards

  • Collaborate with clinical leaders to design education programs that improve patient outcomes, staff retention, and professional growth

  • Support evaluation, completion, and documentation of clinical competencies

  • Promote organizational standards of excellence and evidence-based practice

  • Serve as a key member of the Clinical Nursing Education team and contribute to consortium-wide projects

  • Act as liaison for internal and external clinical education opportunities

  • Utilize evidence-based research to improve nursing practice and professional development

  • Consider safety, effectiveness, and cost when planning and delivering education programs


Education, Certifications & Licensure

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program

  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in a U.S. state

    • Must apply for state licensure prior to start date if required

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association

  • BLS Instructor Certification – preferred or must be obtained within 1 year of hire

  • Clinical Competency Assessment (within 3 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter)


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of clinical educator or instructor experience

    • (1 year may be substituted with supervisory experience)

  • Minimum 5 years of professional nursing experience, including at least 2 years in Long-Term Care (LTC)

  • Supervisory experience preferred


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of professional nursing principles, LTC standards, and geriatric care

  • Expertise in adult learning principles and educational program development

  • Ability to develop and deliver effective training across multiple levels of care

  • Experience evaluating and improving education programs using evidence-based methods

  • High-quality oral and written communication skills

  • Familiarity with education delivery platforms and tools (virtual, LMS, and in-person formats preferred)

  • Strong collaboration, leadership, and organizational skills

  • Ability to create a positive, supportive learning environment aligned with evidence-based practice


Travel Requirements

  • Approximately 30% travel required

  • Travel may include air and ferry transportation


Physical & Working Conditions

  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, and use hands throughout the workday

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs

  • Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling

  • Ability to travel as required for the role
