Job Title: RN – Burn Trauma (Burn Registry Specialist)
Location: Remote (New York State candidates only)
Assignment Duration: 9 Weeks
Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (includes a 30-minute break)


Job Summary

A healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Burn Registry Specialist to support a burn trauma program through accurate data collection, abstraction, coding, and reporting to the American Burn Registry (ABR). This remote role plays a critical part in quality improvement, regulatory compliance, research, and performance monitoring related to burn patient care.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain burn patient data submitted to the American Burn Registry (ABR)

  • Abstract, code, validate, and submit burn-related clinical data in compliance with ABR standards

  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all registry submissions

  • Review medical records to identify eligible burn cases

  • Collaborate with burn care teams, trauma services, and quality departments as needed

  • Generate reports and support performance improvement and quality initiatives

  • Utilize cloud-based registry and data management software

  • Maintain compliance with New York State, institutional, and accreditation requirements


Patient Volume

  • Review and manage data for approximately 30–34 patients per week


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in Burn Registry (American Burn Registry) reporting and burn coding

    • (3–5 years strongly preferred)

  • Demonstrated expertise with burn coding standards and ABR submission processes

  • Proficiency with cloud-based software platforms

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy

  • Ability to work independently and meet submission deadlines


Preferred Qualifications

  • Active New York State licensure in one of the following clinical disciplines:

    • Registered Nurse (RN)

    • Certified Nurse Specialist (CNS)

    • Nurse Practitioner (NP)

    • Physician Assistant (PA)

    • Or another relevant clinical discipline

  • Prior experience in a verified burn center or trauma program
