Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant
Location: North Bergen, NJ 07047
Shift: Monday – Friday | 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Assignment Duration: 13+ Weeks (with possible extension)


Job Summary

A healthcare facility in North Bergen, NJ is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to provide clinical and clerical support under the supervision of a licensed medical practitioner. This role supports patient care delivery in a fast-paced outpatient setting while ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and confidentiality.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare examination and treatment rooms, supplies, and instruments

  • Prepare patients for physician visits and examinations as directed

  • Obtain and document vital signs in patient medical records

  • Demonstrate proper use and care of specialized medical equipment

  • Perform clinical procedures following competency validation, including:

    • EKG

    • Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT)

    • Audiometry

    • Titmus Vision Testing

    • Urine Drug Screening (UDS)

    • Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT)

    • Phlebotomy and additional laboratory testing as assigned

  • Maintain accurate patient records, files, and reports

  • Assist with billing and collection procedures as needed

  • Utilize computer software to support office operations and documentation

  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations

  • Deliver patient-centered care tailored to age, culture, language, and special needs

  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers at an appropriate developmental and literacy level

  • Perform additional duties or projects as assigned

  • Adhere to organizational competencies, policies, and standards of professional behavior

  • Meet physical requirements, including lifting at least 5 lbs., pushing/pulling at least 10 lbs., and standing for a minimum of 6 hours per day

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to interact effectively and supportively with diverse patient populations

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment

  • Knowledge of computerized systems and data entry processes


Education Requirements

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED

Preferred:

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program


Required Certifications & Licensure

  • BLS Certification (AHA)

  • One of the following Medical Assistant certifications:

    • CMA – National Healthcareer Association (NHA)

    • CMA – National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

    • CMA – American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)

    • RMA – American Medical Technologists (AMT)

    • RMA – National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)

    • AMCA – American Medical Certification Association

    • NCMA – National Certification Medical Association
