Job Title: Nurse Manager – NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)

Location: Houston, TX

Shift Options:

  • 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM (Rotating weekends/on-call)

  • 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM (Rotating weekends/on-call)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Nurse Manager – NICU to lead and support a high-acuity Neonatal Intensive Care Unit within a large, specialized women’s and children’s healthcare facility. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring high-quality, patient-centered neonatal care, operational excellence, staff development, and continuous quality improvement within the NICU.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with strong clinical expertise in neonatal care, proven leadership experience, and a passion for advancing outcomes for newborns and families.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director with daily department operations and strategic planning

  • Support department alignment with organizational mission, vision, and values

  • Coordinate and participate in Performance Improvement and Quality Initiatives

  • Ensure delivery of evidence-based, patient-centered nursing care

  • Provide direct clinical and operational support to NICU nursing staff

  • Assist in staffing, scheduling, and workforce planning

  • Support clinical education, competency development, and staff mentoring

  • Promote interdisciplinary collaboration across Women’s Services

  • Assist in planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care services

  • Maintain compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and safety standards

  • Contribute to a positive work culture and high-performing team environment

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of recent NICU leadership experience (Manager or Charge Nurse level) in an acute care setting

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – Required

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (State of Texas or Multi-State Compact)

    • Compact license holders must obtain Texas RN license within 60 days of hire

  • BLS Certification (American Heart Association) – Required
