Job Title: Senior Project Manager
Duration: 6–12 months
Location: 100% Remote
A public-sector organization is seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager to lead complex, enterprise-scale technology initiatives. This role will manage projects with broad organizational impact, coordinating across multiple departments and stakeholders while ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and within budget.
The Senior Project Manager will apply advanced project management methodologies, lead cross-functional teams, manage risks and dependencies, and communicate regularly with executive leadership to drive successful outcomes across institution-wide initiatives.
Apply advanced project management techniques to independently lead complex research, analysis, and implementation initiatives for enterprise-level stakeholders
Lead analyses to determine project approaches, data sources, methodologies, and evaluation criteria
Manage the full project lifecycle for large, enterprise-wide or multi-institutional technology projects
Direct and evaluate project proposals, plans, and progress reports
Assume full project management ownership for large, high-impact initiatives from initiation through delivery
Assemble and lead large cross-functional project teams; develop detailed project plans, schedules, and resource strategies
Oversee all aspects of project execution including system integration, vendor coordination, organizational communications, and risk management
Organize and coordinate interdepartmental and multi-organization activities to ensure delivery on schedule and within budget
Monitor project costs, schedules, metrics, and performance indicators; proactively manage risks and issues
Communicate regularly with executive leadership regarding project status, risks, and strategic alignment
Strong foundation in project management principles, theories, and methodologies
Ability to assess organizational technology needs and design solutions to meet those needs
Broad knowledge of technology initiatives and their organizational impact
Proven ability to anticipate obstacles, plan contingencies, and manage risk
Exceptional organizational, planning, and prioritization skills
Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated leadership and ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
Expertise in selecting and applying appropriate project management methods and tools
Strong skills in tracking effort, progress, budgets, and performance metrics
Ability to analyze and manage highly complex projects with broad institutional impact
Strong executive-level communication and presentation capabilities
Ability to integrate critical information across technical and business disciplines
Collaborative leadership style with the ability to deliver results in highly matrixed environments
7+ years of experience as a lead Project Manager with end-to-end ownership of complex projects
Hands-on experience managing SDLC-related technology projects
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience/training
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (highly preferred)
Experience managing PeopleSoft module projects (e.g., WFA, ePerformance)
Experience managing projects within the higher education domain
