Position Title: Nurse Manager – Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN)

Location - Sanford, FL

Shift Details: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM, may require staying late; 24/7 availability for operational needs


Position Summary

The Nurse Manager – Critical Care RN provides leadership and accountability for the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care across assigned critical care units. The role ensures nursing practice standards, policies, and procedures comply with legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements while supporting optimal patient outcomes and service excellence.

The RN Manager directs continuity of care through interdisciplinary collaboration, communicates effectively with physicians, patients, and care teams, and fosters a patient-centered care environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage ICU and Progressive Care Units (PCU), overseeing daily operations and staff performance

  • Ensure adherence to nursing standards, departmental policies, and regulatory requirements

  • Develop, implement, and monitor programs to assess and improve quality of nursing care

  • Coordinate patient care across hospital services and departments

  • Maintain adequate equipment and supplies to support patient care

  • Participate in rounding and proactively respond to patient and staff needs

  • Foster a culture of patient-centered care and a healing environment

  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members

  • Oversee discharge planning and ensure patients/families receive appropriate instructions and resources

  • Ensure effective pain management practices are in place and operational


Required Qualifications

Experience:

  • 3+ years of recent (within the last year) acute care leadership experience in ICU

Education & Licensure:

  • Registered Nurse Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing

  • Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)

Certifications:

  • NIH Stroke Scale – within 30 days of start

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Instructor – within 30 days

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Instructor – within 6 months

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or equivalent – within 6 months


Leadership Scope

  • Oversight of ICU and PCU

  • Unit Beds: 31

  • Staff Oversight: ~48 FTEs
