The OR Tech II is an experienced surgical technologist who can confidently support the majority of surgical procedures in a general Operating Room environment. This role represents a skilled, independent contributor who is not yet in a formal leadership or advanced specialty position but demonstrates strong technical competence and reliability in complex cases.
The Surgical Technologist II prepares and maintains the operating room while assisting surgeons and the surgical team during procedures. This role requires strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation, sterile technique, and procedural flow. The OR Tech II collaborates closely with the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care.
Prepare and maintain the operating room, including instruments, supplies, and advanced surgical equipment.
Assist with patient transport, positioning, prepping, and draping while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and privacy.
Scrub in and actively assist during surgical procedures by passing instruments, handling specimens, and anticipating procedural needs.
Monitor patients and surgical equipment throughout procedures and respond promptly to intraoperative needs or concerns.
Maintain strict sterile technique and support efficient room turnover between cases.
Contribute to a collaborative, high-performing Operating Room team environment.
Minimum 1+ year of Operating Room Surgical Technologist experience required.
Must meet all requirements of an OR Tech I role and demonstrate competency as first scrub in three of the following four specialty areas:
Robotic Surgery
Total Joint Procedures
Neuro/Spine
Vascular Surgery
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through NBSTSA preferred.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
Reports to: Surgical Services Leadership
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Proficiency with wire-based techniques is a plus.
Team-oriented mindset with strong communication and collaboration skills.
