The Emergency Room Registered Nurse provides direct and comprehensive nursing care to patients presenting with acute, urgent, and emergent conditions. This role requires strong critical-thinking skills, rapid assessment capabilities, and the ability to function effectively in a fast-paced emergency care environment.
Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Schedule: 3×12-hour shifts
On-Call Requirement: One on-call shift every 6 weeks
Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend (block schedule)
High-acuity Emergency Department
Adult and pediatric patient populations
Fast-paced, high-volume emergency care setting
Perform rapid patient assessments and prioritize care based on acuity
Deliver emergency nursing care for medical, surgical, and trauma patients
Administer medications and treatments per provider orders and protocols
Monitor patient responses and adjust care plans accordingly
Utilize emergency response protocols and coordinate with interdisciplinary teams
Document patient care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record
Maintain patient safety, infection control, and regulatory compliance
Float to other units or campuses as needed within scope of practice and documented competencies
Active Registered Nurse State License
BLS (AHA)
ACLS (AHA)
PALS
TNCC
ENPC
NIHSS
CPI
Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room nursing experience
Experience working in high-acuity emergency or trauma settings preferred
EPIC EMR experience required (minimum 1 year)
Medication Management: Pyxis
Charting System: EPIC
