Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced MICU Registered Nurse to provide high-acuity critical care to medically complex patients in a fast-paced intensive care environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical judgment, critical care expertise, and the ability to manage life-threatening conditions using advanced ICU technologies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill MICU patients

  • Perform continuous patient assessments and respond rapidly to changes in condition

  • Manage ventilated patients and advanced hemodynamic monitoring

  • Administer and titrate vasoactive drips per protocol

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary critical care teams

  • Participate in rapid response and code situations

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation using electronic medical records

  • Ensure compliance with ICU protocols, infection control, and patient safety standards


Required Licensure & Certifications

  • Active New York State RN license (must be in hand; no exceptions)

  • BLS (AHA)

  • ACLS (AHA)


Required Experience & Skills

  • Recent MICU or high-acuity ICU experience

  • Experience managing patients with:

    • Sepsis, ARDS, respiratory failure, and shock

    • Renal failure, CRRT

    • Heart failure and post-cardiac arrest care

    • Targeted Temperature Management (TTM)

    • Alcohol withdrawal and overdose

    • Multi-organ failure

  • Familiarity with advanced cardiac and circulatory support devices, including:

    • ECMO

    • Impella

    • Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP)

    • EKOS

  • Strong ventilator management and critical care monitoring skills


Unit Details

  • 16-bed Medical ICU

  • Nurse-to-patient ratios:

    • 1:2 standard

    • 1:1 based on patient acuity

  • High-acuity, multidisciplinary critical care environment
