Rehabilitation Nursing (Acute Rehab)
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to support an acute inpatient rehabilitation unit caring for patients recovering from neurological and complex medical conditions. This role involves providing coordinated, patient-centered nursing care to individuals with stroke, brain injury, and spinal cord injuries in a structured rehab setting.
Shift Type: Day / Extended Day Shift
Shift Length: 12 hours
Hours: 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM
Schedule: 3 shifts per week
Assignment Type: Contract / Travel
Duration: 13 weeks
Acute inpatient rehabilitation unit
Typical nurse-to-patient ratios:
Days: 1:5
Nights: 1:12
Floating required to Medical-Surgical units within scope of practice
Weekend coverage required every other weekend
Stroke (CVA)
Traumatic and non-traumatic brain injuries
Spinal cord injuries
Patients requiring intensive rehabilitation services
Provide comprehensive nursing care in an acute rehab hospital setting
Perform detailed patient assessments and ongoing monitoring
Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
Assist patients with mobility, transfers, and rehabilitation goals
Safely operate specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts and sit-to-stand lifts
Collaborate with interdisciplinary rehab teams including PT, OT, and Speech Therapy
Educate patients and families regarding care plans and recovery goals
Document patient care accurately in the electronic medical record (EPIC preferred)
Float to other inpatient units as needed within competency
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
Minimum 1 year of nursing experience (acute care or rehab preferred)
Current BLS certification
Experience or familiarity with acute rehabilitation hospital settings
