Position Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive nursing care to adolescents residing in a secure residential treatment setting. The RN supports the physical health and medical needs of youth while collaborating with an interdisciplinary treatment team to ensure care plans align with behavioral, educational, and rehabilitative goals. This role requires strong clinical judgment, professionalism, and the ability to work effectively within a structured residential environment.


Patient Population & Care Setting

  • Male youth, typically ages 13–18

  • Residential, campus-style treatment environment

  • Secure and highly supervised care setting

  • Accredited healthcare and residential facility


Key Responsibilities

  • Administer prescribed medications, including controlled substances, in accordance with policy and regulations

  • Maintain and manage medical inventory and medication storage

  • Assess, monitor, and document overall health status of residents

  • Develop, review, and evaluate nursing intervention plans

  • Ensure nursing interventions align with individualized treatment plans

  • Maintain infection prevention and control standards

  • Prepare and complete required clinical and administrative documentation

  • Participate in staff trainings, meetings, and professional development activities

  • Collaborate as an active member of the facility’s interdisciplinary medical and treatment team

  • Respond to medical concerns, emergencies, and health-related incidents

  • Provide health education and support to youth as appropriate


Required Qualifications

  • Active New York State RN license

  • Ability to work independently in a residential or non-acute pediatric setting

  • Strong assessment, documentation, and medication administration skills

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork abilities


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with pediatric or adolescent populations

  • Experience in residential, behavioral health, correctional, or secure treatment environments

  • Familiarity with infection control standards and regulatory compliance

  • Maintains professionalism in a structured, secure environment
