Position Summary

The School-Based Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) provides evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment services to students with speech, language, voice, fluency, and communication disorders. This role requires in-person service delivery and close collaboration with educators, families, and multidisciplinary school teams to support students’ academic and functional communication success.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct speech and language evaluations and re-evaluations

  • Develop, implement, and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)

  • Provide direct speech-language therapy services to assigned students

  • Monitor student progress and adjust treatment plans as needed

  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, administrators, and families

  • Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and multidisciplinary team discussions

  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation and student records

  • Ensure compliance with state and federal special education regulations

  • Support classroom strategies to enhance communication outcomes

  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment


Student Population

  • School-aged children (elementary, middle, or high school as assigned)

  • Students with speech, language, articulation, fluency, and communication disorders


Required Qualifications

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) – required

  • Active Colorado State Speech-Language Pathologist license

  • Colorado Department of Education (CDE) certification required

    • Candidates may start with pending CDE certification

  • Ability to work independently in a school-based environment

  • Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior school-based SLP experience

  • Experience working with IEP teams and special education services

  • Familiarity with school-based documentation systems

  • Student-centered and family-focused approach to care

  • Effective collaboration with multidisciplinary school teams

  • Strong time-management skills in a part-time schedule
