Job Title: Internet / Web Engineer – Advanced

Location: Remote
Contract Duration: 9 Months

Additional details: Onsite travel to Columbia may be required, possibly up to once per month. More clarity regarding necessary travel will be known as the project progresses after the candidate starts.

Overview

This role supports the development and maintenance of enterprise framework functionality for EDI Services and a large-scale Medicaid web application. The project team builds and supports mission-critical systems for a state-level health and human services organization, with technical oversight provided by an internal IT services group.

Key Responsibilities

The Software Engineer will design, develop, implement, and support a Member Management replacement initiative and other assigned projects. This position is part of a Production Support team and is responsible for supporting and maintaining newly developed technologies.

Core Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement enterprise-level, web-based distributed systems supporting large user populations

  • Build responsive user interfaces using modern web technologies (e.g., AJAX) with support for mobile devices

  • Develop Java-based applications using industry-standard frameworks such as Spring

  • Design and implement highly available and scalable application architectures

  • Apply software development best practices across the full SDLC, including analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and support

  • Emphasize unit testing and use of integrated development environments (IDEs)

  • Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions

  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including developers, DBAs, QA, infrastructure, and support teams

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience

Required Skills

  • 7+ years of experience with Apache Tapestry

  • 7+ years of experience with JavaScript

  • 7+ years of experience with jQuery

  • 7+ years of experience working with EDI transactions

  • 7+ years of experience with JDBC

  • Strong Java development experience

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Java enterprise frameworks

  • Experience with UC4 job scheduling

  • Experience with ActiveMQ messaging

  • Experience with Unix/Linux environments and shell scripting

  • Experience with SQL databases

  • Experience with MongoDB

  • Experience supporting or developing Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS)
