Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Pediatric Behavioral Health

Location: Syracuse, NY 13210
Assignment Duration: 15 Weeks
Shift: Day Shift | 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
Schedule: 12.5-hour shifts | Every other weekend and select holidays required

Position Overview

A healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support a Pediatric Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit. This contract role focuses on providing compassionate, high-quality nursing care to pediatric patients with behavioral and mental health needs in an acute care hospital setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to pediatric patients in an inpatient behavioral health environment

  • Assist physicians and registered nurses with examinations, treatments, and procedures

  • Administer medications and injections in accordance with established protocols

  • Monitor, document, and report vital signs and patient responses to treatment

  • Prepare patients for examinations and assist during clinical procedures

  • Maintain cleanliness and readiness of exam rooms and clinical areas

  • Accurately document patient care using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems

  • Support daily unit operations and participate in nursing unit activities

  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary care teams

Compensation

  • Gross Weekly Pay: $1,846/week

  • W2 Rate: $18/hour

  • Weekly Stipend: $1,225/week

  • Local Pay Rate: $37/hour

Required Qualifications

  • Active New York State Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license – required

  • Psychiatric nursing experience – required

  • Minimum 1 year of LPN experience

  • Prior inpatient hospital experience strongly preferred

  • Pediatric nursing experience preferred

  • Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain prior to start)

  • EKG application experience highly desired

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills

Work Environment

  • Pediatric inpatient behavioral health unit

  • Fast-paced, team-oriented acute care setting

  • Requires flexibility for weekends and holiday coverage
