We are seeking an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join an acute care clinical team on the night shift. This role involves providing comprehensive respiratory care to adult and geriatric patients, including critical care and trauma cases, in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Night Shift
Schedule: 3 shifts per week
Hours: 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Orientation: 16 hours
Block Scheduling: Not available
Deliver comprehensive respiratory care to adult and geriatric patients, including those in critical care and trauma settings
Perform and assist with advanced respiratory procedures such as:
Extubation and ventilator weaning
Mechanical ventilation management and troubleshooting high-pressure alarms
BiPAP and CPAP therapy
High-flow nasal cannula and tracheostomy collar oxygen therapy
Perform airway management procedures including:
Tracheostomy care
Nasal and oral airway placement
Suctioning (oral, nasal, and tracheal)
Pulmonary hygiene and sputum specimen collection
Administer respiratory medications via multiple delivery methods, including:
Aerosol mask and trach setups
Metered-dose inhalers (MDI)
Handheld, T-piece, and trach collar nebulizers
Administer medications including (but not limited to):
Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, Pulmicort, Perforomist
Racemic epinephrine, Spiriva, Terbutaline sulfate, Tobramycin, Xopenex
Document patient care accurately and timely using Epic EMR
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to support optimal patient outcomes
Float to other qualified units or campuses as needed based on facility needs
Active South Carolina Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license (must be in hand)
Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapy experience
Trauma Level I experience required
Minimum 1 year of Epic EMR experience
Required Certifications:
BLS
ACLS
Strong experience in adult critical care settings
First-time travelers accepted
Local candidates accepted (radius rules apply per submittal guidelines)
Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
All RTO, block, or special scheduling requests must be submitted upfront and are subject to approval
COVID-19 vaccination: Not required
Flu vaccination: Required (no exemptions)
