Schedule: 3 × 12-hour shifts
Shift Time: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Total Hours: 36 hours/week
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (or as unit needs)
Holiday Requirement: As required based on unit needs
On-Call: Not required
Floating: Required to like ICUs only
Block Scheduling: Not guaranteed; schedules based on unit priority needs
A high-acuity Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) is seeking an experienced Travel Registered Nurse (RN) to provide complex critical care services during night shifts. The ideal candidate will demonstrate advanced clinical judgment, strong critical thinking skills, and the ability to manage critically ill patients requiring intensive monitoring and life-support interventions.
Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill medical ICU patients
Perform detailed patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care
Manage complex critical care equipment and therapies
Administer medications, blood products, and continuous infusions safely
Monitor and interpret hemodynamic data and cardiac rhythms
Maintain and manage central lines, arterial lines, and peripheral IV access
Perform arterial blood gas collection and phlebotomy as required
Manage ventilated patients, including sedation, paralytics, and spontaneous breathing trials
Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams
Accurately document patient care in accordance with clinical standards
Float to comparable ICU units as needed within the facility
Minimum 3 years of recent Medical ICU or ICU experience
Strong competency in high-acuity, CCRN-level critical care
Experience with:
Mechanical ventilation
Complex vasopressor management
Sedation and paralytic infusions
Central line and arterial line management
Swan-Ganz catheters
Chest tubes
CRRT
Bladder management and straight catheterization
Strong peripheral IV access skills
Experience with balloon pumps
Experience with Impella devices
CCRN certification (highly recommended)
5 years of ICU experience preferred
Required: Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN)
Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Active New Jersey RN license or multi-state compact license
BLS (AHA)
ACLS
NIHSS
Telemetry competency
4-hour Stroke CEU
