Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician

Location: Long Beach, CA 
Job Type: Contract – 13 Weeks (Contract-to-Permanent Opportunity)
Shift: 2nd Shift | 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
Schedule: 40 Hours/Week | 8 Hours/Day | 5 Days/Week
Pay Rate: $28/hour

Position Overview

A healthcare facility in Long Beach, CA is seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician to support surgical and clinical operations by ensuring the proper decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of medical instruments and equipment. This role is essential to maintaining patient safety and infection control standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, and sterilization of surgical instruments

  • Operate sterilization equipment including autoclaves and washer disinfectors

  • Follow ANSI/AAMI standards, infection control policies, and manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs)

  • Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and proper assembly

  • Accurately document sterilization processes using electronic tracking systems

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

  • Collaborate with surgical services and clinical teams to meet case demands

  • Identify and report damaged or missing instruments promptly

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of hands-on sterile processing experience

  • Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation and sterile processing workflows

  • Experience with steam sterilization and infection prevention practices

  • Familiarity with ANSI/AAMI standards and manufacturer IFUs

  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity

  • Basic computer skills and electronic documentation experience

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Education & Certifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)

Certification:

  • Sterile Processing Technician Certification (CRCST, CIS, or equivalent) – required
