Job Title: Registered Nurse – Suicide Mortality Review Nurse Abstractor (Remote, Part-Time)

Position Overview:
"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as a Suicide Mortality Review Nurse Abstractor. This part-time, remote role supports public health prevention efforts by reviewing and abstracting data related to suicide mortality cases. The RN will work with multidisciplinary teams to provide accurate and concise case summaries for review and analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
Case Abstraction: Review and extract data from medical, behavioral health, social service, autopsy, and law enforcement records; document key life circumstances, system interactions, and risk/protective factors.
Case Narrative Development: Develop comprehensive, de-identified case summaries for committee review using trauma-informed and culturally responsive principles.
Data Management & Quality Assurance: Enter abstracted data into secure databases in compliance with privacy regulations; participate in peer review to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Collaboration: Work with program managers, epidemiologists, and review teams to prioritize cases and prepare materials for meetings.
Confidentiality & Compliance: Maintain strict confidentiality of all case materials and adhere to state and federal privacy regulations.
Qualifications:
Education: Active RN license; Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Public Health, Behavioral Health, or related field.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years clinical experience; experience in behavioral health preferred. Experience with medical or behavioral health record abstraction is highly desired.
Skills & Competencies:
Knowledge of suicide prevention frameworks, behavioral health systems, and social determinants of health.
Strong written and analytical skills with attention to detail.
Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise narratives.
Cultural sensitivity and humility when working with diverse populations.
Familiarity with medical and behavioral health terminology.
Ability to work independently while communicating effectively in a remote team environment.
Candidate Requirements:
Must be based in the Phoenix, AZ area.
Ability to attend in-person interviews within one week of posting close.
Able to start within two weeks of offer.
