Job Title: Patient Care Associate

Location: Leesburg, VA
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Standard Hours: 40 hours per week
Contract Duration: 6+ Months (with possible extension)

Position Overview

A educational organization is seeking a Patient Care Associate (PCA) to support the health, safety, and daily care needs of elementary school students. Working under the supervision of the School Nurse and school administration, the PCA assists with basic health services, student monitoring, and helps maintain a safe, supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the School Nurse with daily health-related activities and student care

  • Provide basic first aid and comfort care for minor injuries or illnesses

  • Monitor students with medical needs and report any changes promptly

  • Assist students with activities of daily living (ADLs), including mobility, toileting, and hygiene as needed

  • Support students with special health needs according to individual care plans (IEPs or 504 plans)

  • Maintain accurate health and incident documentation

  • Help manage the health office, including organization, supplies, and cleanliness

  • Escort students to and from the health office as needed

  • Follow school health policies, safety procedures, and confidentiality requirements (FERPA/HIPAA where applicable)

  • Communicate effectively with teachers, staff, parents, and administrators regarding student care needs

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Certification or training as a Patient Care Associate, Nursing Assistant, or similar healthcare role (preferred)

  • Basic First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)

  • Experience working with children, preferably in a school or pediatric setting

  • Calm, patient, and compassionate approach in a school environment

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively with young children in a supportive and caring manner

  • Attention to detail and ability to follow care plans and instructions

  • Physical ability to assist students as required

  • Professionalism and respect for student privacy and confidentiality
