Senior Account Manager – NYC Public Sector (IT Staffing)

About the Role

We are a well-established and growing IT staffing firm expanding our footprint across New York City agencies and public-sector clients, and we’re looking for a Senior-Level Account Manager to help lead that growth.

This is a front-facing, relationship-driven role with real influence.

You will work directly alongside our VP, CEO & the NYC team, partnering closely with leadership to deepen existing NYC relationships, expand agency penetration, and build long-term account strategies across the City of New York and related entities.

What You’ll Be Doing

NYC Agency Account Management

  • Own and grow relationships across NYC agencies, authorities, and public-sector clients.
  • Make direct outreach calls into agencies to identify staffing needs, upcoming initiatives, and expansion opportunities.
  • Act as a trusted partner to agency stakeholders, hiring managers, and procurement teams.

Account Farming & Growth

  • Call on existing clients to deepen relationships and expand account coverage.
  • Identify new departments, programs, and lines of business within current NYC clients.
  • Drive repeat business by staying embedded with client needs; not just responding to reqs.

Field Presence & Client Engagement

  • Conduct regular on-site visits to NYC agency clients to maintain visibility and trust.
  • Attend meetings, briefings, and check-ins to strengthen partnerships and uncover future demand.
  • Serve as a visible, consistent presence across the NYC public-sector ecosystem.

Strategic Collaboration

  • Work closely with our NJ-based Account Manager who has supported NYC accounts for several years to jointly strategize and expand our City footprint.
  • Partner with internal recruiting teams to ensure delivery aligns with client expectations.
  • Collaborate with leadership on account plans, pipeline forecasting, and growth strategies.

Prime Integrator & Partner Engagement

  • Build and manage relationships with prime integrators supporting NYC and New York State work.
  • Support expansion into broader public-sector opportunities, including OGS and related contract vehicles.
  • Position our firm as a trusted subcontractor and long-term partner.

Industry Presence & Networking

  • Attend NYC conferences, industry events, agency forums, and networking sessions to establish and maintain a strong market presence.
  • Build relationships beyond immediate reqs; playing the long game in the NYC market.

What We’re Looking For

You’re a strong fit if you have:

  • Senior-level experience as an Account Manager, Client Manager, or Business Development professional in IT staffing
  • Prior experience working with NYC agencies (directly or through a vendor/prime)
  • Existing relationships within NYC agencies or public-sector organizations
  • Strong comfort navigating procurement, compliance, and public-sector buying processes
  • A technology background or strong understanding of IT roles and delivery models
  • Confidence engaging senior stakeholders and representing the firm independently
  • Willingness and ability to be out in the field regularly
  • Previous role within an NYC agency or authority
  • Prior experience working with prime integrators in NYC or NYS
  • Familiarity with NYC portals, vendor processes, and contract vehicles
  • Experience supporting OGS or NYS-related staffing initiatives
  • Existing book of public-sector relationships
