Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
Hours: 40 hours per week
Pay Rate: $58 – $62 per hour
Rotating day shifts between 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Shift start times vary (7:00 AM, 7:30 AM, 8:00 AM, 8:30 AM, 9:00 AM, 9:30 AM, 10:00 AM, 10:30 AM, 11:00 AM, 11:30 AM, 12:00 PM)
Occasional holidays
On-call required
The GI Lab/Endoscopy Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers comprehensive nursing care for patients undergoing gastrointestinal procedures. This role involves pre-, intra-, and post-procedure care, patient and family education, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team. The RN demonstrates leadership, clinical excellence, and a strong commitment to patient-centered care and professional nursing standards.
Provide comprehensive nursing care using the nursing process and an interdisciplinary approach
Deliver patient and family education throughout the continuum of care, initiating discharge planning at admission
Perform ongoing patient assessments and document findings accurately
Safely administer medications, including moderate sedation per hospital policy and physician direction
Assist physicians with GI procedures including, but not limited to:
Colonoscopy with polypectomy and biopsy
Esophageal dilation
Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG)
Banding procedures
Electrocautery (argon plasma coagulation, clipping, subcutaneous injections)
Provide post-procedure recovery care and conduct pre- and post-procedure phone calls
Manage patient pain and utilize restraints appropriately per policy
Identify and report signs of neglect or abuse in accordance with legal requirements
Provide age-specific care across the lifespan
Perform cardiovascular and psychosocial assessments
Participate in performance improvement initiatives
Maintain accurate electronic documentation and demonstrate proficiency in nursing informatics
Maintain all required licenses, certifications, and competencies
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
Active Massachusetts RN license
2–3 years of recent (within last 5 years) Endoscopy experience
BLS certification
ACLS certification
Moderate Sedation certification
Successful completion of:
Pharmacology exam
Basic Arrhythmia Program or challenge exam
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
