Job Description – Physical Therapist

Location: Syracuse, NY
Unit: Physical Therapy
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: Day Shift | Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Hours: 40 hours/week (5×8)
Pay Package:

  • Gross Weekly: $3,014

  • W2 Rate: $40/hr

  • Weekly Stipend: $1,414

Position Overview

The Physical Therapist is responsible for evaluating patients, developing individualized treatment plans, and delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions in an acute and/or outpatient hospital setting. This role requires collaboration with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes and functional independence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients’ physical conditions and functional limitations.

  • Develop, implement, and modify individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and goals.

  • Provide therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, and patient education to promote recovery and mobility.

  • Document evaluations, treatment sessions, progress notes, and discharge summaries accurately and timely.

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.

  • Educate patients and families on treatment plans, home exercise programs, and injury prevention.

  • Maintain compliance with departmental policies, regulatory standards, and safety guidelines.

  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and quality improvement initiatives as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Physical Therapist (2 years preferred).

  • Outpatient physical therapy experience preferred.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy (or higher).

  • Active New York State Physical Therapist license in good standing.

  • Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and treatment planning skills.

  • Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration abilities.

  • Must meet all pre-employment health, credentialing, and compliance requirements.
