Job Title: Staff Accountant / System Accountant

Job Type: Contract (as applicable)

Job Summary

The organization is seeking a detail-oriented System Accountant to support system-level accounting activities. This role is responsible for general ledger month-end close, complex account analysis, and reconciliations, including sub-system reconciliations. The accountant will also recommend improvements to accounting systems, processes, and controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting (required)

Experience / Skills:

  • 2–4 years of professional accounting experience

  • Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail

  • Solid knowledge of financial accounting principles

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

Principal Accountabilities

  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare and upload journal entries to the general ledger, including consolidation of business units and elimination entries to support system-level financials

  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of all recorded financial transactions

  • Reconcile general ledger accounts with monthly statements (e.g., bank statements, sub-system ledgers), make necessary adjustments, and report material variances to management

  • Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external financial reporting, including auditor requests

  • Compile and analyze financial data to assist in the preparation of balance sheets, income statements, and other financial reports

  • Analyze expenses, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to help forecast future revenues and expenses

  • Prepare reports to assist management in determining proper accounting treatment for reserves, assets, and expenditures

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and reporting deadlines

  • Support moderately complex accounting projects as assigned by management

  • Document processes and recommend process improvements and internal controls

  • Serve as a resource and mentor to less experienced accounting staff

  • Maintain professional competency through ongoing education and skills development

  • Adhere to organizational policies, procedures, productivity standards, and accuracy expectations

  • Demonstrate commitment to delivering compassionate, professional, and collaborative service to internal and external stakeholders

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required

  • Accounting degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s in Accounting)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with inventory accounting

  • Familiarity with Lawson and/or Blackline accounting systems
