Job Description

The facility is seeking an experienced PCU / MSDU Registered Nurse for a night shift assignment in a 26-bed Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU). This critical care step-down unit provides advanced monitoring and evidence-based care for adult acute-care patients transitioning from higher levels of care, including ICU, PACU, ED, and medical-surgical units.

All patients are on continuous telemetry and pulse oximetry. The RN must be adaptable, vigilant, and comfortable providing complex patient care in a multidisciplinary environment.


Requirements

  • Licensure:

    • Active New York RN license required at submission (no exceptions)

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 1 year of PCU / step-down or equivalent acute care experience

    • First-time travelers accepted

  • Patient Ratios:

    • Must be able to manage 1:5 to 1:7 patient ratios as needed

  • Certifications:

    • BLS required

  • Charting:

    • EPIC experience required


Clinical Competencies

  • Cardiac Monitoring & Emergency Response:

    • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias

    • Use of Rapid Response and Code Teams

  • IV Therapy / Phlebotomy:

    • Peripheral IV line care and management

  • Respiratory Care:

    • Nasal cannula

    • Oxygen face masks

    • Portable oxygen tanks

    • Non-invasive airway management (including BIPAP)

  • Professional Skills:

    • Isolation precautions

  • Unit Size: 26 beds

  • Provides care for patients requiring:

    • Continuous telemetry and pulse oximetry

    • Airway management and acute BIPAP support

    • Arterial and central lines

    • Titrated IV medication infusions

  • Utilizes a multidisciplinary, patient-centered approach to deliver high-quality care
