Job Description – Medical Assistant

Location: Murphy, NC 28906
Duration: 14 Weeks
Pay Rate: $24/hr (W2)
Schedule: 27 hours/week

  • Tuesday & Thursday: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM

  • Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Position Overview

The Medical Assistant provides essential clinical and administrative support in a fast-paced outpatient setting. This role involves rooming patients, assisting with clinical procedures, handling front-desk tasks, and ensuring efficient clinic operations. Strong communication and teamwork are essential to success.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Support

  • Room patients, collect vitals, and document patient information accurately.

  • Perform phlebotomy/venipuncture.

  • Conduct EKGs and point-of-care (POC) testing.

  • Administer vaccines and assist providers with clinical procedures.

  • Maintain exam rooms, equipment, and supplies.

Front Office Duties

  • Greet and check in patients professionally.

  • Schedule appointments and manage patient flow.

  • Answer phone calls and provide patient assistance.

  • Update patient records and work within the EMR system.

Team & Patient Interaction

  • Communicate clearly with patients, staff, and providers.

  • Contribute to a collaborative and supportive clinical environment.

  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.

Required Experience

  • 2–3 years of Medical Assistant experience required.

  • Minimum 1 year beyond externship required.

Required Skills

  • Front and back office experience

  • Phlebotomy

  • EKG

  • POC testing

  • Scheduling

  • Rooming patients

  • Vitals collection

  • BLS or CPR certification

Qualifications

  • Medical Assistant Certification strongly preferred

  • Occupational Health experience strongly preferred

  • Phlebotomy/venipuncture skills required

  • EMR experience required

  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations
