The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) provides clinical and administrative support to healthcare providers in an outpatient medical office setting. This role involves patient preparation, diagnostic testing, documentation, and general office duties while maintaining a high standard of patient care and confidentiality.
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:45 AM – 4:15 PM
Shift Length: 8-hour shifts | 5 days/week
Local candidates only
No weekends, holidays, or on-call
Floating required across multiple locations: Paramus, Franklin Lakes, Montvale & North Bergen
Reporting location will be provided in advance
Certified Medical Assistant credential (CMA, RMA, NCMA, AMCA, NHA, NCCT, AAMA, AMT, NAHP)
AHA BLS certification
The CMA supports licensed nurses and medical practitioners by performing clinical tasks, assisting with patient examinations, and managing administrative responsibilities. The role includes preparing rooms, performing diagnostic tests, maintaining records, and ensuring smooth patient flow within the office.
Clinical Support
Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms with necessary supplies and equipment.
Prepare patients for exams and assist providers as directed.
Measure and record vital signs accurately.
Operate and maintain clinical equipment appropriately.
Perform EKG, PFT, audiometry, and Titmus testing after competency validation.
Conduct phlebotomy, UDS, BAT, and other lab tests after completing required competencies.
Administrative & Patient Support
Maintain and file patient charts and documentation.
Assist with billing and collection tasks when required.
Use computer systems for scheduling, updates, and patient information entry.
Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect patient confidentiality.
Communicate effectively with patients, parents, and caregivers.
Support diverse patient needs regarding culture, age, language, and limitations.
Perform other assigned duties or special projects.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift ≥ 5 lbs., push/pull ≥ 10 lbs.
Ability to stand ≥ 6 hours per day.
Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
Excellent interpersonal skills for diverse patient interactions.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced clinical setting.
Basic computer knowledge and accurate data entry skills.
Required:
High school diploma or GED
Preferred:
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program
AHA BLS Certification (Required)
One of the following Medical Assistant credentials:
CMA (NHA, NCCT, or AAMA)
RMA (AMT or NAHP)
AMCA or NCMA
