Sr. ETL Developer

Location: Boston, MA (Hybrid)
Duration: 8+ Months (Possible Extension)

Position Summary

The Data Operations and Technology unit within the Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA) seeks an experienced Sr. ETL Developer to support the ETL Development team. This role involves building new and enhancing existing ETL pipelines, coding data preparation and reporting processes, providing technical troubleshooting, and ensuring reliable data movement across various systems. The developer will work with multiple database technologies, scripting languages, and cloud environments, becoming a critical contributor to CHIA’s data ecosystem.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of hands-on ETL development experience using Qlik Talend or IBM DataStage.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

  • 6+ years of ETL development experience handling large datasets, including PII/PHI.

  • Strong experience with Linux and Windows environments.

  • 6+ years of experience with Snowflake, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server.

  • 6+ years of experience working in cloud environments such as Azure / Microsoft DevOps.

  • Strong understanding of HIPAA and handling of sensitive data (PII/PHI).

  • Proven ability to work independently in hybrid, in-office, or remote settings.

  • Demonstrated success collaborating with cross-functional development teams.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement ETL processes to extract and transform data from diverse sources including databases and flat files.

  • Work closely with organizational stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver high-quality ETL solutions.

  • Design and develop database objects using Snowflake, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server.

  • Collaborate with team members to understand source system structures, data retrieval methods, and organizational tools.

  • Lead development of data transformation logic using ETL tools and scripting languages such as SQL, Bash, and Python.

  • Clean, validate, and transform data to meet target schema and quality standards.

  • Contribute to data quality initiatives and continuous improvement activities.

  • Participate in troubleshooting to ensure data integrity and efficient processing.

  • Mentor and guide junior developers.
