Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled GIS Analyst – Project Lead to support a major data migration and GIS modernization initiative. The project involves transitioning an existing Oracle Spatial database (maintained via GeoMedia) to a SQL database managed within the ESRI Roads and Highways on-premise environment. The role includes database conversion, software upgrade coordination, GIS data management, and map production.

This is a fully onsite position in Columbia, SC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce high-quality digital and printed maps using advanced GIS and mapping applications.

  • Perform GIS data collection, maintenance, editing, and spatial analysis activities.

  • Update and maintain GIS database tables to reflect changes in features and attributes.

  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control to ensure spatial accuracy and data integrity.

  • Assist in creating and updating procedural documentation and workflow manuals.

  • Perform software and procedural testing, evaluation, and research as assigned.

  • Support the migration and conversion of spatial databases from Oracle Spatial to SQL.

  • Execute tasks as assigned by the project manager or technical lead.

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or a Physical Science field.

Required Skills (Ranked)

  • 3+ years of experience with GIS/mapping software and applications

  • 3+ years working with spatial databases

  • 3+ years of cartographic/map production experience

  • 1+ year of experience with database design principles

Preferred Skills (Ranked)

  • Experience with ArcGIS Pro

  • Experience with SQL databases

  • Experience with ArcGIS Roads and Highways Extension
