The CT Scan Technologist performs complex CT procedures and related imaging techniques to produce high-quality sectional and 3D images for diagnostic interpretation. This role also supports interventional and therapeutic procedures while ensuring patient safety, workflow efficiency, and adherence to regulatory and departmental standards.
Perform advanced and routine CT procedures with precision and professionalism.
Review patient clinical history and ensure documentation is accurate and entered into PACS.
Prepare and verify contrast questionnaires with patients or family members; enter documentation into EPIC.
Administer or assist with the administration of contrast media as prescribed.
Review imaging prescriptions for appropriateness; communicate with Radiologists and ordering providers for clarification or updated orders.
Verify insurance-authorized exam scripts and submit necessary documentation to Finance for re-verification.
Obtain outside imaging studies (CDs), upload into EPIC/PACS, and ensure availability for comparison.
Provide exam copies to patients, providers, or family members as needed.
Evaluate radiographs within PACS for image quality, proper identification, and diagnostic completeness.
Gather patient information from medical records and appropriate sources to ensure safety and correct protocol selection.
Confirm patient preparation, explain procedures clearly, and address patient questions or concerns.
Perform venipuncture and IV checks per protocol.
Monitor patient condition for adverse reactions during imaging.
Participate in weekend, holiday, and overtime staffing as required.
Follow organizational standards for behavior, attendance, patient interaction, safety, and professionalism.
Meet physical job demands: lifting minimum 25 lbs., pushing/pulling minimum 50 lbs., standing for extended periods (6+ hours).
Modify communication and care approaches based on patient population needs (age, culture, disability, etc.).
Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and radiologic positioning.
Proficiency with CT hardware/software and PACS systems.
Ability to maintain CEU credits and ongoing professional development.
Must obtain ARRT (CT) certification within 12 months of hire if not already held.
American Heart Association BLS certification (within 3 months of hire).
At least 2 years of CT experience required (5 years preferred).
Experience with Epic EMR, Fuji PACS, and ability to function effectively in a busy Emergency Department.
Ability and willingness to work in dual modalities (CT & X-Ray).
6+ months prior CT experience (in addition to required experience).
Knowledge of Epic EMR and other HIS/RIS systems.
Required:
Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program.
High School diploma or equivalent.
NJ DEP Diagnostic Radiography License.
ARRT Certified R.T.(R).
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).
Preferred:
ARRT R.T.(CT) certification.
