Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical-Surgical Unit
Location: Pikeville, KY

Position Overview

The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers direct and comprehensive nursing care to adult patients on a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit. This role requires strong clinical judgment, proficiency in cardiac monitoring, and the ability to care for diverse patient populations in a fast-paced acute care environment. Effective communication, teamwork, and adherence to high-quality care standards are essential.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to patients requiring medical-surgical and telemetry monitoring.

  • Monitor cardiac rhythms, recognize abnormalities, and escalate concerns promptly.

  • Perform thorough patient assessments and document findings accurately.

  • Administer medications, treatments, and IV therapies according to provider orders.

  • Manage complex patient care plans and collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.

  • Respond rapidly to changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions.

  • Operate, monitor, and interpret telemetry equipment effectively.

  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).

  • Educate patients and families on treatment plans, procedures, and discharge instructions.

  • Follow infection control standards and all patient safety guidelines.

  • Participate in bedside shift reports and detailed handoffs to ensure continuity of care.

  • Perform additional related duties as required.


Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted RN license.

  • Minimum 1–2 years of recent Medical-Surgical/Telemetry experience.

  • Strong competency in cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation.

  • BLS and ACLS certifications required.

  • Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems preferred.

  • Ability to work 48-hour weekly schedules, including weekends and holidays.


Preferred Skills

  • Prior travel nursing experience.

  • Experience in high-acuity or fast-paced hospital settings.

  • Strong ability to multitask and adapt to rapidly changing patient needs.
