Job Title: GED Instructor

Location: Pine Bluff, AR 72762
Duration: 3 Months
Shift: 1st Shift
Hours: Part-time — 2–5 hours per week
(Includes an additional 30 minutes per week for prep time and an optional 30-minute monthly meeting)


Position Overview

The GED Instructor will deliver High School Equivalency instruction to adult learners at a local facility. This role focuses on providing engaging, learner-centered lessons and test-preparation support. The instructor will also participate in program activities, meetings, and training to enhance instruction and support student success.


Key Responsibilities

  • Teach High School Equivalency (GED) content, including Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies

  • Prepare and deliver lessons tailored to adult learners’ needs

  • Provide test-preparation guidance aligned with official GED testing standards

  • Create, organize, and update instructional materials and resources

  • Participate in partner meetings, faculty meetings, and required training sessions

  • Attend recruitment events and program activities to promote engagement

  • Maintain accurate attendance and progress records

  • Communicate effectively with program coordinators and stakeholders


Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of instructional strategies for GED subject areas

  • Native-like fluency in English; strong written and verbal communication

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Ability to teach diverse learners and manage a classroom effectively


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or related field

  • 3+ years of adult education or GED instruction experience

  • Strong classroom management, organizational, and lesson-planning skills

  • Proficiency in a second language

  • Cross-cultural awareness and the ability to support diverse learners

  • Strong technology integration skills for instructional use
