Schedule: 40 hours/week | 8-hour shifts | Monday–Friday
Department: Medical/Surgical ICU
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Med/Surg ICU is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to critically ill adult patients. This role includes ongoing assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation to support patient recovery in a high-acuity environment. The RN will collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate care.
Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and document findings according to professional standards.
Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and clinical priorities.
Provide direct patient care, including medication administration, monitoring, and therapeutic interventions.
Support physicians during procedures and respond to changes in patient condition promptly.
Utilize critical thinking skills to manage patients requiring intensive monitoring and treatment.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with regulatory and organizational guidelines.
Provide patient and family education regarding treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
Ensure adherence to safety protocols, compliance standards, and evidence-based care practices.
Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience
Minimum 2 years of IV insertion and phlebotomy experience
Minimum 2 years of conscious sedation experience
Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking abilities
Proficiency managing high-acuity patients in a fast-paced environment
Effective communication, teamwork, and patient-advocacy skills
Required:
Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN or ADN) from an accredited nursing program
Required:
Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License
Primary Source Verification from the NYS Department of Education (NYSED)
AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)
AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Hours per week: 40
Shifts: 8-hour day shifts
Days per week: 5
Priority given to RNs with experience in:
Med/Surg ICU
Mixed Med/Surg & ICU
Critical Care ICU
Step-Down ICU
