Shift: Days – 2×12-hour shifts (06:00–18:00)

Job Overview

A correctional healthcare facility is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive nursing care to individuals in a secure environment. The RN will conduct assessments, administer medications, implement care plans, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care.


Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care & Assessment

  • Conduct nursing assessments and record/update individuals' health information and vital signs.

  • Prepare individuals for examinations and assist providers during treatments.

  • Administer medications and perform nursing procedures as prescribed.

  • Observe and document symptoms, conditions, responses to treatment, and changes in patient health.

Care Planning & Coordination

  • Develop, implement, and adjust nursing care plans as needed.

  • Provide clinical supervision and instruction to direct care staff.

  • Delegate appropriate nursing tasks and procedures to support personnel.

  • Participate as the nursing representative on treatment teams and coordinate care across disciplines.

Monitoring & Rounds

  • Perform clinical rounds to evaluate patient needs and monitor the quality of nursing services.

  • Ensure infection control practices are properly implemented and provide related guidance to staff.

Education & Support

  • Provide health teaching, counseling, and preventive education to individuals, families, and groups.

  • Contribute to the development of health improvement programs.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records in accordance with state, federal, and facility guidelines.

  • Assist with data collection and related activities supporting quality improvement or research initiatives.

Operational Duties

  • Monitor inventory and ensure proper supplies, medications, and equipment levels.

  • May assist with preparing work schedules, providing updates to supervisors, and contributing to staff evaluations and required reports.
