Job Description

A government agency is seeking a highly qualified Data Analyst to provide senior-level consultative services and technical assistance related to program analysis. The role involves working closely with business and technical units to review priority initiatives, analyze program activities, and support special projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing priority initiatives and special projects using business analysis best practices.

  • Assessing, researching, and documenting data requirements.

  • Ensuring adherence to data standards and best practices.

  • Assisting in optimizing operations and program functions.

  • Providing recommendations based on analytical findings.

  • Developing data analysis tools and defining data requirements.

  • Leading or supporting special projects as assigned by agency leadership.

  • Collaborating with internal staff to facilitate and support multiple concurrent initiatives.

  • Working under limited supervision with significant independence and judgment.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 8+ years: Ability to research, gather, assemble, correlate, and analyze facts; identify and solve complex problems; and prepare concise analytical reports.

  • 8+ years: Ability to transform data into actionable insights for business decision-making and present reports that identify technology and operational gaps to executive stakeholders.

  • 8+ years: Experience developing or contributing to as-is / to-be data models to increase operational efficiency.

  • 8+ years: Skilled in mapping data, identifying improvements, establishing benchmarks, and creating frameworks for operational trend analysis and performance measurement.

  • 8+ years: Experience analyzing data policies and procedures and assessing their impact on automated systems and functional areas.

  • 8+ years: Experience acquiring data from varied sources, creating regular reports, conducting deep analysis of trends/correlations, and developing metadata, tables, and user interfaces.

  • 8+ years: Expertise in developing data reports, dashboards, and visualizations using advanced reporting tools.

Preferred Skills

  • 5+ years: Advanced experience with reporting tools, dashboards, and data visualizations. (Duplicate line in the original—kept as preferred)

  • 5+ years: Experience with SDLC documentation, including gap analysis, recommendations, roadmaps, requirements, design documents, system/data flow diagrams, test cases, and use cases.

  • 1+ year: State or Federal public sector experience.
