Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) to join a dynamic surgical team for a short-term assignment in Watertown, New York. The ideal candidate will provide safe, efficient, and high-quality care to surgical patients while supporting multidisciplinary collaboration within the perioperative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and indirect care to surgical patients before, during, and after procedures.

  • Maintain sterile and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety.

  • Prepare operating rooms, instruments, and equipment for surgical procedures.

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans for patients.

  • Collaborate with physicians, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals.

  • Monitor patient status, respond to critical situations, and administer appropriate interventions.

  • Identify and mitigate safety risks using proper lifting and patient movement techniques.

  • Demonstrate strong leadership, problem-solving, and delegation skills.

  • Participate in rotating on-call duties (must be able to respond within 30 minutes).

Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.

  • License: Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York (or eligibility prior to start).

  • Certifications:

    • BLS (required)

    • ACLS (preferred)

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 1 year of medical/surgical nursing (Operating Room experience preferred).

    • Prior charge, leadership, or preceptorship experience is a plus.

  • Skills:

    • Proficient in clinical equipment and instrumentation typical to OR/ASU settings.

    • Ability to interpret lethal dysrhythmias.

    • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

    • Strong critical thinking and adaptability in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
