Registered Nurse (RN) – Step-Down Unit

Location: Cleveland, OH 44195
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: 3x12-Hour Days or Nights (07:00 – 19:30 / 19:00 – 07:30)
Orientation: 20 Hours (Non-Billable)


Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Step-Down Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week assignment in Cleveland, Ohio. The nurse will provide high-quality care to patients transitioning from intensive care to lower acuity settings within a leading hospital environment.

This position offers an opportunity to work with a collaborative multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced, high-acuity cardiac step-down unit.


Schedule & Contract Details

  • Shift Options:

    • Day: 07:00 AM – 07:30 PM

    • Night: 07:00 PM – 07:30 AM

  • Shift Type: 3x12-Hour (no 8s or 10s)

  • Rotation: Variable shifts may be required to meet facility needs; preference will be considered but rotation may occur if necessary

  • Duration: 13 Weeks

  • Block Scheduling: Not guaranteed

  • Orientation: 20 Hours (Non-Billable)

  • Start Date: Approximately 3 weeks after contract signing


Requirements

  • License: Active Ohio RN License or Compact RN License (in hand prior to start)

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 18 months of recent Cardiac Step-Down experience required

    • Travel experience accepted

    • PCU or Progressive Care experience preferred but not mandatory

  • Certifications:

    • AHA BLS

    • AHA ACLS

    • NIHSS

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred)


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct and compassionate nursing care to patients requiring close monitoring and cardiac step-down support

  • Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and vital signs accurately

  • Administer medications, IV drips, and other prescribed treatments safely

  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes

  • Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record (EMR)

  • Educate patients and families on health management and discharge planning

  • Maintain compliance with all safety, quality, and regulatory standards


Additional Details

  • Holiday Requirement: Must work at least every other holiday

  • Testing:

    • ECG rhythm recognition and safeMedicate testing during orientation; passing scores required

  • Timekeeping: Hours submitted via Qualivis – Lotus platform
