Position Overview:

Navitas Healthcare, LLC is seeking Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical/Telemetry for an exciting Travel or Local job in Rochester, NY.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care for medical-surgical and telemetry patients, including pulmonary and cardiac conditions.

  • Monitor, interpret, and manage dysrhythmias; initiate and maintain cardiac drips (no titration).

  • Manage IV insulin protocols, titrate insulin drips, and administer heparin per protocol.

  • Care for patients with tracheostomies, ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula.

  • Perform central line and PICC line management; initiate peripheral IVs as needed.

  • Administer blood products and manage pre- and post-hemodialysis patients.

  • Manage feeding tubes, chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac), and wound care (including Wound Vac).

  • Oversee continuous bladder irrigation (CBI) and surgical drains.

  • Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition, including rapid response activation.

  • Document all nursing interventions accurately in Epic EHR.

  • Follow infection control and isolation precautions.

  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare staff to coordinate care.

Qualifications:

  • Active RN License in the state of New York (no pending licenses accepted).

  • Minimum 1 year of recent acute care experience in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA required).

Proficient in:

  • Dysrhythmia interpretation and management.

  • Cardiac monitoring and non-titrating cardiac drips.

  • Insulin and heparin protocols.

  • Tracheostomy, ventilator, and oxygen therapy care.

  • Central and PICC line care and IV initiation.

  • Chest tube and wound management.

  • Substance withdrawal and post-surgical care.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Epic EHR.

  • Prior PCU/IMC/Stepdown experience.

  • Previous travel nursing experience (Epic proficiency required for first-time travelers).

Additional Information:

  • Floating required within scope of practice.

  • Rapid response activation expected as needed.

  • Supported by PCTs and in-house phlebotomy team.
