This role focuses on creating intuitive, user-centered experiences for physical products—especially within regulated industries such as medical devices, imaging systems, or other complex hardware environments.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hardware UX design, experience conducting Formative and Summative usability testing, and a solid understanding of risk management practices such as User FMEA and Known Use Error Reporting. Proficiency in Figma and experience working within structured design systems are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, product management, and regulatory compliance to ensure design alignment.

  • Conduct and support Formative and Summative usability testing in compliance with regulated industry standards.

  • Contribute to User FMEA and Known Use Error Reports to identify and mitigate usability risks.

  • Develop and maintain high-fidelity prototypes in Figma, leveraging a structured design system.

  • Translate complex technical requirements into user-friendly interface solutions.

  • Advocate for user-centered design principles throughout the product development lifecycle.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience designing UX/UI for hardware-integrated systems (not purely digital or app-based).

  • Background in regulated industries such as medical devices, healthcare, or imaging systems.

  • Hands-on experience with Formative and Summative usability testing methodologies.

  • Familiarity with User FMEA and Known Use Error Reporting.

  • Advanced proficiency in Figma and structured design system workflows.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), UX Design, or a related field preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with FDA-regulated product design or IEC 62366 / ISO 14971 usability standards.

  • Familiarity with embedded systems, control panels, or physical interfaces.

  • Excellent visual design sensibility with attention to usability and accessibility.
