Job Title: Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) to perform advanced clinical tasks under the supervision of a licensed dentist. This role supports restorative, prosthodontic, and endodontic procedures, contributing to patient comfort, safety, and overall care quality. The EFDA enhances efficiency in the dental practice while maintaining high standards of infection control and clinical readiness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Place and finish dental restorations (fillings) after tooth preparation by the dentist.

  • Take accurate impressions for temporary crowns, bridges, and diagnostic models.

  • Fabricate and place temporary crowns and bridges.

  • Perform coronal polishing and apply fluoride treatments.

  • Apply sealants and desensitizing agents as directed by the dentist.

  • Assist during restorative, prosthodontic, and endodontic procedures.

  • Take and process dental radiographs (X-rays).

  • Maintain infection control protocols and properly sterilize instruments.

  • Accurately chart treatment notes and update patient records.

  • Provide clear post-treatment instructions to patients.

  • Monitor inventory, prepare procedure trays, and maintain clinical readiness.

  • Support front office operations when necessary, including patient flow and case coordination.

Skills & Experience:

Required:

  • 1–2 years of dental assisting experience.

  • Strong understanding of restorative dental procedures and materials.

  • Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience as an EFDA.

Education & Certifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) certification.

  • CPR certification.

Preferred:

  • Additional dental training or certifications.
