Job Title: OR Technician (Surgical Technologist)
Location: Sugar Land, TX 77479
Duration: 11 weeks
Shift: Day Shift | 6:45 AM – 3:15 PM | 7.5-hour shifts | Monday–Friday
Position Summary:
The OR Technician is responsible for providing proficient perioperative patient care through the safe and effective use of surgical equipment, instrumentation, and supplies. The technologist functions as a scrub assistant to the surgeon during operative and/or invasive procedures, ensuring a sterile field and efficient workflow. This position operates under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and serves as a role model and resource for other surgical staff.
Responsibilities:
Prepare the operating room by setting up sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies according to procedure requirements.
Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, sponges, and supplies.
Anticipate the needs of the surgical team to ensure procedural efficiency.
Maintain strict adherence to sterile technique and infection control standards.
Handle specimens properly and assist with their labeling and transport.
Participate in the cleaning and restocking of surgical suites.
Support the orientation and training of new staff as needed.
Collaborate with perioperative team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
Current certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred.
BLS (AHA) certification required.
Minimum of 2 years of recent operating room experience preferred.
Proficiency in a variety of surgical specialties including general, orthopedic, vascular, neurosurgery, robotics, GYN, colorectal, and total joint replacement procedures.
