Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant
Location: Flushing, NY 11355
Duration: 14+ weeks with possible extension
Shift: Monday – Friday | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) provides essential clinical and administrative support to healthcare professionals, ensuring efficient and high-quality patient care. This role involves assisting with patient examinations, performing clinical procedures, maintaining accurate records, and supporting daily operations within a fast-paced medical setting.
Assist healthcare providers during patient examinations and minor procedures.
Obtain and document patient vital signs, medical history, and presenting concerns.
Administer medications, injections, and immunizations as directed.
Perform diagnostic tests such as EKGs and phlebotomy.
Prepare and maintain exam rooms, ensuring cleanliness and adherence to infection control standards.
Collect and process lab specimens accurately and safely.
Educate patients on prescribed medications, treatments, and follow-up care.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality guidelines.
Schedule and coordinate patient appointments and follow-ups.
Maintain detailed and accurate medical records in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
Support billing, coding, and insurance verification processes.
Respond to patient inquiries via phone or in person and route messages appropriately.
Provide front desk and administrative support when needed.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program required.
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential preferred.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant, ideally in an Internal Medicine or similar practice.
Knowledge of medical terminology, clinical protocols, and patient care standards.
Proficiency with EHR systems and standard office software.
Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
Flexibility to work at multiple clinic locations if required.
Fast-paced clinical setting with frequent patient interactions.
Requires multitasking and strong attention to detail.
Standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 lbs may be required.
Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information responsibly.
Willingness to travel to other clinic sites within the area as needed.
