Job Title: Respiratory Care Practitioner / Therapist (Registered)

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (includes a 60-minute break)
Schedule: 3 nights per week, weekends as needed (must be able to work weekends)

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner/Therapist to join the Respiratory Care team for a 2-month assignment. The ideal candidate will provide advanced respiratory therapy services to patients across adult, pediatric, and neonatal populations in both critical and emergency settings. This role requires strong technical expertise, clinical judgment, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
Deliver comprehensive respiratory therapy care to patients in Adult, Pediatric, NICU, PICU, and Emergency Department units.
Set up, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilators and other respiratory care equipment per physician orders and departmental protocols.
Administer therapeutic gases, aerosols, and medications, and perform chest physiotherapy and airway management procedures.
Assess and document patient responses to therapy, adjusting treatment as necessary.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Respond promptly to emergency situations, including rapid responses, codes, and airway management needs.
Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records (EMR) documentation.
Ensure compliance with hospital, state, and federal standards for safety and infection control.
Graduate of an American Medical Association (AMA)–approved Respiratory Therapy program; Associate or Bachelor’s degree (A.A.S./B.S.) required depending on program type.
Current New York State Respiratory Therapist License required.
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification preferred.
BLS certification required; ACLS, PALS, or NRP certifications preferred.
Minimum 3 years of experience working with adult, pediatric, and neonatal patient populations in hospital settings required.
Strong knowledge of current mechanical ventilation techniques and ventilator operation required.
Proficiency in basic computer applications and EMR systems.

Arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling and analysis
Ventilator troubleshooting and equipment management
