Job Title: Medical Assistant
Duration: 13 Weeks
Location: Cincinnati, OH (Delhi Road area)
The Medical Assistant will assist in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. This role requires both clinical and administrative responsibilities to support smooth clinic operations and provide excellent patient care.
Maintain patient flow during clinic hours.
Document review of systems; measure vital signs (pulse, respirations, blood pressure, weight, height).
Update patient medical, social, and family history; review and update medications at each visit.
Accurately record patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Assist in onboarding/training of new employees as needed.
Prepare patient charts in EMR by scanning, abstracting, and reviewing diagnostic test results and reports.
Access and navigate external systems to obtain patient information.
Manage medication refills, pre-authorizations, and communication with patients, pharmacies, or insurance providers.
Maintain medication logs, handle samples, and dispose of expired medications per protocol.
Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and prepared for patient use.
Order medical supplies and complete patient assistance paperwork when needed.
Obtain medical information from patients per office protocols.
Return patient calls and respond to electronic messages (e.g., MyChart).
Manage workflow logs, in-baskets, and EMR work queues.
Coordinate and oversee administrative office tasks.
Answer incoming calls, schedule appointments, check patients in/out, and handle pre-certifications for prescriptions, procedures, and surgeries.
Operate diagnostic equipment (EKG, cardiac monitors, etc.) to perform routine tests.
Perform clinical procedures such as vaccinations, phlebotomy, and cast removal as assigned.
Follow all procedures and regulations to maintain a safe and secure work environment.
Protect patient confidentiality and comply with legal/ethical responsibilities.
Support quality measures and enhance patient experience.
Strong computer proficiency (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, EMR, scheduling systems).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with patients, physicians, staff, and vendors.
Ability to travel to other physician offices if required.
Preferred:
2–5 years of experience as a Medical Assistant or in a related healthcare role.
Experience across multiple care settings (primary care, specialty care, EMT, etc.).
Additional clinical skills: phlebotomy, EKGs, suture removal, splinting.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
Associate degree (preferred).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Certified/Registered Medical Assistant credential from a recognized certifying body (preferred).
