Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our dental care team. In this role, you will enhance the efficiency and quality of care by performing advanced clinical duties under dentist supervision. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on, surgical setting and is passionate about patient safety, comfort, and high-quality care.

Responsibilities

  • Place and finish dental restorations (fillings) after dentist preparation.

  • Take accurate impressions for temporary crowns, bridges, and diagnostic models.

  • Fabricate and place temporary crowns and bridges.

  • Perform coronal polishing and fluoride treatments.

  • Apply sealants and desensitizing agents as directed.

  • Assist during restorative, prosthodontic, and endodontic treatments.

  • Take and process radiographs.

  • Maintain infection control and sterilization standards.

  • Provide clear post-treatment instructions to patients.

  • Accurately chart treatment notes and update patient records.

  • Monitor inventory and prepare trays for procedures.

  • Support front office team with patient flow and case coordination as needed.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 1–2 years of dental assisting experience required.

  • Strong knowledge of restorative procedures and materials.

  • Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Prior EFDA experience strongly preferred.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Certifications & Licensure

  • Current CPR certification.

  • Completion of a dental radiography course.

  • Active EFDA (Expanded Function Dental Assistant) certification.
