Duration: 2 Months (59-day assignment)
Shift: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (includes 60-minute break) | Monday–Friday, weekends required

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Care Practitioner (Registered Therapist) to join the Respiratory Care team for a short-term assignment. The ideal candidate will have extensive pulmonary function testing (PFT) experience, along with ICU and mechanical ventilation knowledge, to provide safe and effective patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform pulmonary function tests (PFTs), including Spirometry, Plethysmography, DLCO, 6-Minute Walk Test, and ABG analysis.

  • Support patient care in both outpatient PFT lab settings and inpatient units.

  • Provide respiratory care in ICU environments, including ventilator management and monitoring.

  • Assist with intubations as needed.

  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain respiratory care equipment to ensure accuracy and safety.

  • Document patient data accurately and maintain medical records in compliance with regulations.

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members for optimal patient outcomes.

  • Provide patient and family education on respiratory therapies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of PFT experience (including at least 1 year in a functioning lab).

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with Spirometry, Plethysmography, DLCO, 6-Minute Walk Test, and ABG.

  • Active New York State Respiratory Therapist license.

  • Graduate of an AMA-accredited Respiratory Therapy Program (A.A.S. or B.S. degree depending on program).

  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical ventilation systems and current standards of care.

  • Proficiency with clinical documentation and computer applications.

  • Current BLS certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience.

  • Intubation experience.

  • ACLS certification.
