Job Title: Assistant Director of Nursing (Healthcare Administrator)
Location: Flagstaff, AZ 86001
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (40 hours/week)
Shift Type: Day Shift

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to provide leadership, supervision, and clinical oversight in a long-term care and healthcare setting. The ADON will support the Director of Nursing (DON) in ensuring compliance with all standards of care, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.

This position requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to respond effectively to both routine and emergent healthcare situations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage nursing staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage and resource allocation.
  • Evaluate quality and outcomes of critical nursing functions, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
  • Train, coach, and supervise nursing staff to ensure high standards of Veteran/Member care.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and initiate corrective actions as needed.
  • Participate in and lead committees, task forces, and other organizational initiatives.
  • Oversee HR-related responsibilities including interviewing, staff selection, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Respond appropriately to emergent issues involving allegations of abuse, neglect, mistreatment, law enforcement involvement, or resident elopements.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Director of Nursing and assume leadership responsibilities in their absence.
  • Actively participate in organizational improvement processes and promote quality initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing (AZ or compact state).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an AZ DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Current negative TB test or physician’s clearance required.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of progressive nursing leadership experience, preferably in long-term care or veteran-focused healthcare.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, compliance standards, and quality improvement practices.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to urgent issues.
